Changes in 2025
Changes from 1st October 2025
Simon Judd (Solicitor/Director – Property and Company/Commercial Department) has worked as a Solicitor for more than four decades. Simon currently assists clients with conveyancing, employment, and company and commercial matters. Simon is retiring this year, and this has prompted the Directors to have conversations about the direction of the firm moving forward. From 1st October 2025, the firm’s focus will be on the Private Client (Wills, Probate, Tax and Trusts) department. We will be closing the other departments in the firm, and will be exclusively offering Private Client services. This includes (but is not limited to): the preparation of Wills and Lasting Power of Attorney, dealing with the administration of estates and trusts, Court of Protection applications, change of name Deeds, etc.
Joya Dale (Solicitor/Director – Private Client Department) will continue to assist clients as usual. Joya has worked at Core Law since 2018, and previously worked at reputable firms based in Eastbourne and Uckfield. She is excited to continue to support existing and new clients in Kent, Sussex, and beyond, for many more years to come.
FAQs
Is Core Law being closed, sold, or taken over by another company?
No, the company will still operate as the same legal entity, however there will be an exciting rebrand, which will be revealed on 1st October 2025.
We will continue to operate as a fully authorised law firm, regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Will your office location change?
We will no longer be based at our current offices (4-6 Dudley Road), however our new office will still be located in central Tunbridge Wells. Details of the new office will be confirmed on 1st October 2025.
We will continue to offer out of office visits for clients who are unable to travel. We will also continue to offer virtual meetings via Microsoft Teams where an in person meeting isn’t possible.
Where will my documents be kept if they are currently held by Core Law?
We will hold various documents prepared by:
- Steadmans Solicitors
- Vance Harris LLP
- Core Law Group LLP
- Core Law Limited
Documents currently held on behalf of clients will continue to be held for safekeeping, as before.
What if I have an ongoing matter being dealt with by Core Law?
The Private Client (Wills, Probate & Trusts) department will continue to operate as usual. There will be no change for clients being assisted by Joya Dale.
We are not taking on any new residential conveyancing instructions. We will ensure that clients who are being assisted by Simon Judd or Christina Oby-Onyia will have their matters seen through until completion.
What if Core Law deals with an estate which includes a property to be sold?
We often deal with clients (in their capacity as Personal Representatives) who instruct us to assist with the administration of an estate which includes the sale of a property. Ordinarily, we would deal with both elements (the estate administration and the property sale). Under the new structure, we will refer clients to a reputable firm of solicitors based in Tunbridge Wells, who can assist with the sale. There will be no referral fee payable to us for this. On completion of the sale, the net sale proceeds will be transferred to us so that we can continue to deal with the administration of the estate.
